PMSC: Internal Auditor Training

ABP Southampton

It is recommended under the Port Marine Safety Code (PMSC) that Marine Safety Management Systems (MSMS), operated and developed by Harbour Authorities or owners of marine facilities, should be subject to an annual internal audit.

Internal audits provide independent assurance that a MSMS is fit for purpose, as well as identify system or process enhancements.

Effective internal audit thus requires understanding of the PMSC and related good practice combined with auditing skills to identify conformity, compliance and system adaptation.

Course overview

PMSC: Internal Auditor develops the necessary skills to assess and report on the conformance and implementation of a MSMS.

Delivered by members of our experienced Maritime team, the two-day course provides an in-depth review of the PMSC and accompanying Guide to Good Practice on Port Marine Operations.

The course details all steps involved in auditing, from preparation through to reporting and action close-out. It covers auditing terminology and practical auditing skills of questioning, recording and summarising auditee information. Tutors lead each session with attendee contribution through managed tasks and practical exercises.
