The Ports & Marine Facilities Safety Code (PMSC) recommends that all organisations operate under a Marine Safety Management System (MSMS) to reduce risk to be tolerable and As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP).

Marine risk management is an integral part of any MSMS, and underpins the guiding ethos of the PMSC.

A comprehensive understanding of hazards, risks and mitigations within the marine environment allows for effective identification and control. Robust risk management provides a safe and efficient operation, fulfilling the requirements of the PMSC and promoting industry best practice.
