Weymouth tidal mapping for Team GBR

Specialist metocean predictions to help the British Sailing Team secure seven medals across London 2012

David Lambkin ABPMer

ABPmer was commissioned to provide specialist advice to Skandia Team GBR, the British Sailing Team in the Olympics and Paralympics. ABPmer supported Skandia Team GBR’s medal hopefuls by providing specialist marine environmental predictions to help maximise their performance during training and at the many sailing events held at the Weymouth Olympic venue.

We worked closely with the Skandia Team GBR coaches and athletes, including supporting Team GBR at regattas, such as the Skandia ‘Sail for Gold’ regatta in September 2009, an ISAF Sailing World Cup event where the team landed the largest medal haul of any nation participating.

Detailed quantitative information was provided to Team GBR during the London 2012 Olympics, when Team GBR won 5 medals; and the Paralympics when Team GBR topped the medal table with 1 gold and 1 bronze.
