ABPmer was commissioned in association with Martin Wright Associates, Cascade Consulting and AECOM to deliver a coastal defence scheme in Rhyl.

To support the engineering design, we undertook surveys and assessed the coastal processes. Our work was also used in the EIA and planning documentation for the coastal defence scheme.

The scheme included upgrades to the training and harbour walls on the eastern side of Froyd Harbour and a stepped revetment to the east of the training wall.

We assessed the potential effects of the scheme on the hydrodynamics and sediment processes, alone and in-combination with other plans and projects, through desk-based assessment and numerical modelling.
