Port flood resilience assessment

Helping Associated British Ports understand the risk of flooding across its estate

The potential impact to infrastructure and assets caused by flooding during storm surge events can be substantial. In order to reduce the risk of flood events, Associated British Ports undertook a review of its port estate to ensure it had adequate prevention/protection measures in place or preparedness to respond to any such event.

ABPmer undertook a sequence of flood resilience assessments across the entire ABP port group. These assessments identified the current and future flood risk to their critical infrastructure assets and, importantly, the flood resilience/resistance measures necessary to keep these assets in operation during and following extreme flood events. The assessments were informed by the most recent data available and liaison with the Environment Agency.
