Seabed mobility study for Hornsea Project
Supporting Hornsea Project One construction project with seabed mobility study to inform key planning decisions
We were commissioned by Cathie Associates, on behalf of DONG Energy, to investigate the seabed mobility potential and possible future seabed level changes, for the Hornsea Project One wind farm area and export cable corridor.
We carried out a desk-based study that assessed the main coastal process drivers over the study area and the historic seabed changes informed through available historic and contemporary seabed bathymetry. Predictions of future changes in seabed levels were then calculated based on the potential movement of sediment and bedforms, along with the geological controls.
The study was completed at a regional scale in order to help inform the potential seabed variability over the project lifetime as means to determine cable burial depths and installation plans.
