Power station environmental risk assessments
ABPmer is the marine environmental advisor for EDF Energy's nuclear interests
EDF Energy operates nuclear, gas and coal power stations across the UK.
ABPmer is contracted as EDF Energy’s marine environmental advisor for its nuclear interests.
To comply with guidance published by UK Health and Safety Executive in connection with the Control of Major Accidental Hazard (CoMAH) regulations, ABPmer was asked to undertake environmental risk assessments concerning the release of potentially environmentally hazardous chemicals stored at each of EDF’s nuclear power stations.
Using the screening methodology set out in the Chemical and Downstream Oil Industries Forum (CDOIF) guidance, our assessment considered the extent of any chemical plume, its ecotoxity and impact to receptor sites/species.
The outcomes of each assessment will be used by EDF Energy to inform its chemical management plans.
