Wave and coastal process studies for the economic justification of new coastal defences around the Welsh coast
Learn moreIsle of Man Harbours is undertaking a Master Planning process for the port facilities at Douglas Harbour. The Master Planning has indicated the potential for deep-water berthing facilities outside the Douglas Harbour entrance for vessels that cannot be accommodated within the existing harbour.
ABPmer was commissioned to evaluate the hydrodynamic and sedimentary implications of new cruise berths with respect to maintenance dredging needs and ship navigation to and from the harbour.
To understand the impact of the hydrodynamic, wave and sediment transport regime, we undertook an oceanographic survey, developed a baseline conceptual understanding of the physical environment and numerically modelled the berthing options. These analyses were then used to inform the sedimentation and navigation assessments.
