Consultant/Senior Consultant Oceanographers and Marine Scientists

Are you an experienced project manager skilled in either physical processes or meteorology and oceanography?

Are you ready to extend your knowledge and experience of delivering oceanographic or coastal process projects?

We are looking for experienced marine scientists and oceanographers to join our team, delivering metocean and physical process studies for marine and coastal infrastructure projects around the globe. The roles are based in our Southampton offices on Town Quay with brilliant views up and down Southampton Water.

About you

You have either physical processes or meteorological and oceanographic (metocean) skills to fill consultant and senior consultant grades. You are efficient, highly organised, self-motivated and work collaboratively in a commercial technical organisation.

Depending on your background you will be skilled in:

  • Understanding coastal and shelf sea oceanographic and meteorological physical processes
  • Metocean and/or physical process data analysis and presentation techniques
  • Technical analysis, e.g. GIS, MATLAB programming/scripting or overtopping analysis
  • Wave, hydrodynamic or sediment numerical modelling
  • Collating and interpreting marine or coastal data and information
  • Report writing, presentation and communication skills
  • Project management

Key tasks

  • Delivering oceanographic and/or coastal process projects
  • Contributing to internal research and development initiatives
  • Preparing and contributing to the proposal/tendering process
  • Project management and client engagement

Qualification and experience

  • A degree (and preferred, a postgraduate degree) in a relevant discipline: oceanography, marine geography, geology, maths or civil engineering
  • At least three years’ relevant marine experience in a consultancy, developer organisation or regulatory background
