EA Flood and Coast Conference 2016
Heidi Roberts presented ABPmer's work assisting our parent company Associated British Ports in considering flood risk and resilience.
Last week you would have found ABPmer technical specialists Heidi Roberts and David Finch at the Environment Agency’s Flood and Coast Conference 2016.
The event, held in Telford, brought together more than 1,500 people representing local authorities, consultancies, contractors, infrastructure owners, businesses, community groups and universities to share best practice across the flood and coastal risk management sector.
Heidi Roberts, Head of Physical Processes at ABPmer, presented the work we have done to assist our parent company Associated British Ports in considering flood risk and resilience.
Heidi’s presentation was part of the session “Infrastructure and Asset Management: Improving resilience across the utility and transport sectors”. Heidi said:
“My talk was well received; the need for resilient critical infrastructure was a key topic generating a lot of questions throughout the day.
“My presentation was the only one to consider ports so it was great to have the opportunity to highlight the role they play in our economy. With 90% of everything we need and use coming through our ports, its vital they are part of the plan for a resilient economy.”
ABPmer was also one of the ninety exhibitors in the sold-out exhibition, representing specialists from across the entire supply chain delivering FCRM technology and solutions, including Environment Agency Water and Environment Management framework contractors.
The conference dinner celebrated the seven winners of the 2016 Environment Agency Project Excellence Awards. The RSPB Wallasea Island Wild Coast Project, a landscape scale habitat creation scheme designed by ABPmer, picked up the Project Excellence “Sustainable Resource Management” Award.
