Coastal Futures 2018 is taking place in London between 17 and 18 January; ABPmer is presenting two papers.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Coastal Futures and a change of venue to the Royal Geographic Society in London. It looks set to be another interesting and diverse two-day event, with an emphasis on looking ahead to opportunities and practical measures needed to meet future challenges.
We have two members of our staff contributing to this years’ programme:
Steve Hull, ABPmer Technical Director, will be talking about the opportunities of Brexit which will include the findings of a short survey of marine stakeholders on associated with current policy shifts and leaving the European Union.
Fisheries specialist, Suzannah Walmsley, will be presenting our work on the displacement of fishing effort from marine protected area (MPA) designation. Natural England asked us to help them better understand the nature of potential displacement and its impacts as well as support the design, implementation and monitoring of management measures in MPAs.
ABPmer will also have a stand in the breakout area, so drop by and say hello if you’re attending.
