Suzannah Walmsley, ABPmer Fisheries specialist, will be speaking at the Scottish Seafood Summit on Wednesday 27 March 2020. Hosted by leading industry body Seafish, the Summit will provide insight and debate on the impact of the UK’s exit of the European Union to the seafood industry.

Leaving the EU will involve changes in tariffs, non-tariff measures, and the amount of fish quotas that can be caught in the UK and EU respectively. Politicians and commentators have stated that Brexit means the UK can take back control of its fishing waters.

Following her co-authored Brexit briefing paper and economic report, Suzannah will discuss the key variants of Brexit and the likely impact each will have on seafood trade.

Addressing one of the industry’s biggest topics, the Summit will address the UK’s changing trading relationship with the EU, post-Brexit access to fisheries and labour options in light of our changing immigration status.

Beginning on Tuesday 26 March 2019, the Scottish Seafood Summit takes place in Aberdeen. For more information, visit the Seafish website.
