Marine Policy

There is international recognition that the world’s coasts and seas are under significant pressure from human activities and climate change. National governments have sought to develop a range of policies to better protect the natural marine environment and to ensure that new development is sustainable.

ABPmer’s Environment Team is at the forefront of thinking and practice on marine planning, marine protected area planning and management and marine licensing. Our work has included the development and application of evaluation and decision-making frameworks and information on marine ecosystem services.

We routinely undertake policy research studies and provides advice to the UK Government, devolved administrations, agencies and the European Commission.

We also regularly provide advice on policy related issues to our industry clients including the marine aggregates, port, renewable, oil and gas sectors.
