Although an increase in the availability of marine data can help us to better understand and manage the marine environment, the ‘big data revolution’ brings a whole raft of data processing, analysis and management challenges.
Using industry-leading geospatial software, our experienced Data team offers Geographic Information System (GIS) and data management services, ranging from spatial analysis and bespoke tool development to quality assurance and production of standard-compliant metadata.
We work with all forms of spatial data, including Automatic Identification System (AIS), hydrographic, LiDAR, metocean, socio-economic and topographic, and are known for creating innovative GIS tools to decode and display data for decision-making purposes.
We also run an onsite ‘Introduction to Coastal and Marine GIS’ training course in collaboration with GeoData, University of Southampton that uses real world consultancy projects to illustrate how marine and coastal datasets can be used to support decision-making.
