Happy World Oceans Day from ABPmer

08/06/2020

Working from home didn’t stop ABPmer colleagues celebrating World Oceans Day, dressing in blue to mark the important day of awareness.

The concept of a World Oceans Day (WOD) was first proposed at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992.

Following a long petition championed by The Ocean Project and World Ocean Network, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution in 2008 that officially recognised WOD as 8 June each year.

WOD helps raise the profile of the ocean and inspire more involvement in helping to conserve the precious resource. To learn more and to get involved, visit the UN World Oceans Day website.
