The second talk in this year’s Coastal Futures programme is about implementing Defra’s 25 Year Environment Plan’s marine objectives. A key feature of the Plan is embedding Environmental Net Gain (ENG).
According to Stephen Hull, a Director at ABPmer; “UK marine biodiversity (both habitats and species) continues to experience some notable declines. This represents a serious failure of existing marine conservation policy and practice. Concepts such as ENG present a potential opportunity to make a real difference reversing the historic declines in marine biodiversity.”
On the first day of the conference, Stephen will be sharing his thoughts and outlining possible options for achieving ENG in marine and coastal environments.
Sion Roberts, Suzannah Walmsley and Tracey Hewett will also be there, be sure to say hello if you’re also attending.
