GIS Consultant - Permanent
ABPmer’s Data Team deals with a variety of work in the fields of GIS, data management, remote sensing and other IT related topics, combined with a range of subjects such as environment, coastal protection, renewable energy locations, flood risk, etc.
The Data Team has a requirement to fill a senior role. It is anticipated that the applicant will provide a mentoring role to more junior members of the team and to the company wide GIS user group. The successful applicant will have programming skills and the ability to lead the development, maintenance and dissemination of the company’s spatial database system (based on ArcGIS Server 10).
Applicants should preferably have a degree in GIS or a closely related subject and 5 years commercial experience of ArcGIS and/or MapInfo focusing on the marine environment and consider themselves to be a problem solver.
The key skill-sets required include a working understanding of relational databases (MS Access and MS SQL Server); development and maintenance of ESRI server products (ArcGIS Server 10, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Web Mapping APIs); remote sensing (ERDAS Imagine) experience; and extensive ArcGIS 10 Desktop skills including use of extensions (3D Analyst, Spatial Analyst) combined with strong programming knowledge in Python and VB/VB.NET.
Project management experience and the ability to write concise project reports is a necessity and the aptitude to write proposals and market the company’s expertise in this field would be advantageous.
